Like all the other courses we start off with a pre-quiz to find out what we don’t remember. Then we look at the laws about record keeping and the reason for record keeping. We look at the records that we keep and why we make them. Understanding that care is a partnership, we need to understand our responsibilities regarding writing things down. Writing and using check lists. Determining who reads our records and why, remembering that we must keep confidentiality. Exploring the difference between facts and speculation in report writing; not using abbreviations, how to correct mistakes, how to fill in and use good reporting methods. Message taking; forms and charts; responsibility; accident and incident forms and why they are different. Where do the records stay; telephone spelling to help others with understanding us on a phone. Finally, we use the quiz to help us to prove that we have learned something.
